FAQ

Find quick answers to the most common questions about our tours and services.

How can I get an Egyptian tourist visa in advance?

If your country is one of the countries that does not apply to obtaining a visa upon arrival, you need to apply for the visa at an Egyptian embassy or consulate in your country, either in person or by post.

Your passport must have at least six months of validity and one blank page. Other documents required for visa application vary depending on the applicant’s nationality. Please consult an Egyptian consulate in your country for more details.

What documents do I need to apply for an Egyptian online Visa, in advance?

Once you are on the website, you will need to:

Create an account

Verify your email and confirm your account

Log back on to the visa website (the one above) and enter in lots of information, like your identifying details, travel details, and passport information

Upload a picture of your passport, smaller than 500KB.

Pay the $25 visa fee using a Visa or MasterCard

Wait for confirmation, then bring the visa with you on your Egypt trip, making sure not to lose or misplace it during the journey to Egypt!

How do I get my tourist visa if I live in a different country to that of my passport?

If you hold a residence permit in the country you live in you can apply to the Egyptian Embassy/Consulate General in that country, otherwise, you have to apply to the country that issued your passport.

I am staying in Sharm El Sheikh; can I visit Cairo or Luxor?

Unfortunately, no if you have the Visa for only this City, so once you leave the confines of the town a full tourist visa is required.

I am going to visit Jordan and/or Israel; will I require a visa when coming back to Egypt?

Yes, as soon as you leave Egypt your visa will be stamped and so you will require another one. If you are from a country that can get their visa upon arrival in Egypt, you can get the new one when you re-enter the country, but if you require a pre-entry visa you should apply for 2 of these, using the second one when you re-enter Egypt.

If you have a multiple-entry visa, you will not need to require a visa when you come back to Egypt all the duration of your visa validity.

Can I bring the prescribed medication with me?

Yes, but please ensure that you only bring enough for your stay, with just a few days' extra supplies as a backup. It would also help if you could bring the prescription as well, as proof or for topping up (there are many pharmacies in Egypt that can do this for you). If you happen to be traveling onwards from Egypt, and so have a lot more of your prescribed medicine with you, please ensure that you do have the prescription as proof.

Please make sure that the medicine or the active ingredient is not one of the medicines prohibited for carrying or circulation in Egypt, because these medicines are not dispensed except by order of a specialized doctor.

Is Egypt known to cause health problems to travelers?

In general, tourists can expect a low health risk. It is only limited to digestive problems. It is also important to take precautions and not expose yourself to the sun without protection.

Are there any special customs I should observe?

Yes, most Egyptian customs differ from the Western customs due to the cultural and

religious differences, as shown below:

1. Most women in Egypt behave conservatively with strangers.

2. Most mosques require visitors to remove their shoes before entering.

3. Use the right hand to eat and give gifts.

4. It is inapt to take photos of soldiers, tanks, or any other military property.

What are the things I should not do in Egypt?

Not researching the attractions, wearing wrong clothes, or not preparing for the weather are typical tourist traps in Egypt. Many people who visit the country mistakenly think that booking their Nile cruise too late or going without a guide for important places is not a problem. Besides these, taking a trip without a currency converter, talking politics or religion, not tipping, being charged full price at bazaars, and missing out on packing necessary drugs are also among the blunders made by the tourists.

make sure you take the same precautions as you would at any other place and
do not walk alone in deserted areas.

The short answer is no, and do not bring any parts of your drone either.
You won't pass customs without losing your gear. No drone flying is allowed
anywhere in Egypt. The Egyptian Aviation Act mentions under Article 46,
sentence 8: "No unmanned aircraft shall be permitted to fly or work within
the State's territory without the permission of the Civil Aviation Authority."
- In any case, the use of unmanned aircrafts is banned according to the Air
and Air Traffic rules with respect to this matter.

Can I take pictures and videos everywhere?

Generally, taking pictures is allowed in most of the places in Egypt, while others ask for a little payment for it.
